The Alexis Hotel Royal Sonesta

When I decided that I wanted to visit Seattle, the first thing I did was start researching hotels.  As this was my first trip to Seattle I wanted to be near all of the must see sights!  I chose the Alexis Royal Sonesta and I am so glad that I did. As I was a solo traveler,  I needed somewhere in a good location that I would feel safe and comfortable staying alone, and I did feel very safe at The Alexis. There were always people at the front desk and valet so I never felt alone.  Another safety feature that I loved wasthat to use the elevators you needed to swipe your room card to get access to the floor.  Overall I would highly recommend it for solo travelers as well as couples, family stays,  etc. The Alexis Hotel is in the perfect location for sightseeing and a short Uber ride to other areas of interest. I would choose this hotel for the location alone. The comfortable bed, friendly staff and hotel amenities were a bonus. As this is a pet-friendly hotel, seeing cute dogs on my way in and out was a double bonus.

Arrival and Check in

After arriving at the Seattle airport, I hopped on the train to downtown Seattle.  From the University Street Station, it is an easy 10 minute or less walk to the hotel.  While I was walking towards The Alexis Royal Sonesta,  I immediately noticed the historic building.  Built in 1901, the hotel has been beautifully remodeled into a luxurious 121 room

boutique hotel.   When I entered the lobby I noticed all of the elegant decor and was amazed at the beauty of The Alexis.

I was greeted by a very friendly staff and immediately felt comfortable and knew I was going to enjoy my time here.    Shout out to Christine, she made sure everything was perfect for my stay!

The Rooms & Hotel Amenities

After a very pleasant experience checking in, I went to my room and was so pleased with everything.  The decor is so cool!  Very contemporary and sophisticated!   The Frette Italian bedding and down comforters were amazing and the pillow top mattress was so comfortable.  The rooms have Wifi, a mini fridge, hair dryer, makeup mirror and more. They offer designer toiletries and even have a bathrobe hanging there ready!

I had a view of the water, it wasn’t a great view but it was still very pretty to have the curtains open during the day. They have black out curtains so it was nice to have those and be able to sleep in the morning. The room was very large for a premium king room. The couch was also very comfy and there was a table as well that I could use. There was plenty of lighting and outlets near the bed so i did enjoy catching up on emails in bed. It was very quiet inside of the hotel room –  didn’t hear other guests’ or outside noise. It was so nice to be able to come back to my comfortable room after a day of exploring downtown Seattle.

The Alexis has all the amenities you would expect at a luxury hotel.  The Chroma Spa offers a wonderful selection of full service spa experiences and there is also an award winning fitness center.   You can even get a bike and go for a nice ride around the city.   Another great thing about staying at the Alexis is being steps away from The Bookstore Bar & Cafe.  It is such a beautiful space with the brick walls and classic books.  You can grab a bite to eat and a coffee before you head out in the morning and then return to enjoy local flavors and craft cocktails.

When I visited the bookstore cafe it was not open but we got a tour of the space and it was gorgeous.  I can’t wait to go back one day and try the food. The windows in the cafe are perfect for people watching!

Another great thing that The Alexis Royal Sonesta offers is their exceptional wedding venue.  The suites and salon rooms are perfect for bridal parties and there are three spaces that are available.  The hotel manager gave us a tour and let us explore the room and it lived up to my expectations! It had everything you would need including a record player and some records!

Location & About the city

The Alexis is in a great location and is perfect for business and leisure.  As I had never been to Seattle, I wanted to check out some of the must-see places.  I walked down to the waterfront, which is only three blocks away. It only took me about five minutes.  I also walked around  the pier and to the Great Wheel.  One morning I walked to the pier and took the scenic harbor cruise.  It was great to get up, stop on my short walk for a coffee and then see the beautiful skyline of Seattle!

I also walked to Pike Place market.  This is a great place to wander around.  The food and the flowers are amazing!  I then made my way to the Space Needle. I went just before sunset and it was fantastic.  As it was getting late, I decided to hop in an Uber for a quick 10 minute ride back to the hotel.  So the Alexis Royal Sonesta really was in the perfect location for my adventures!

My final thoughts & reviews

One of my favorite things about The Alexis is that it is very pet friendly.  Although I was not able to have my favorite travel companion, my dog Brimley, with me on this trip-  I loved seeing all of the dogs that were enjoying the hotel. I had such an amazing stay at The Alexis and I can not wait to return to Seattle and stay there again! I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for clean and very comfortable rooms at a good price and in the perfect downtown Seattle location.
