Sheraton Hotel Downtown Denver: A review & what to expect

The past few years Denver has been on my mind. I have always wanted to re-visit Colorado and Denver is the perfect hub to get to so many different places. Within a couple of hours drive of Denver, you can be in the mountains, the prairies or so many other  beautiful destinations.

We decided Denver would be the perfect city for a girls weekend. We started to look for the ideal location and that is when we came across the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel.   We just  knew it would be the perfect spot for our girl’s weekend.

Everything about the Sheraton looked amazing.  From the comfy rooms, the dining options, the rooftop pool and the location on the 16th Street Mall, we were sold that this was the place for us.  It didn’t hurt that the Sheraton is a member of the Marriott Bonvoy program so we knew we would be in good hands.  Another plus – The Sheraton Denver Downtown is pet friendly!  I hate to travel without my dog, but when I have to, I like to see other fur babies with their families!  My friends and I were lucky enough to stay in the newly transformed presidential suite in the Sheraton Denver Downtown-  and let me tell you,  it did not disappoint!

The hotel transformation:

To say this Sheraton is stunning is an understatement.  The hotel underwent an impressive $80 million renovation in 2021 which includes remodels of the guest rooms, meeting spaces and the lobby.  The design is modern yet embraces the history of the iconic building.  The interior design is so impressive with having the decor a mix of modern with elements of the beatnik movement featuring leather, canvas and darker metal finishes.  The lobby has a new fireplace that is just inviting you to sit around.  One of the most impressive upgrade is the common space – it just makes you feel great knowing that you are in a luxurious surroundings.

The Location:

The Sheraton is conveniently located in the heart of Denver.  You walk out the back door right onto the 16th Street Mall which is a mile long pedestrian street.   There are countless award-winning restaurants, shops and bars all within walking distance and even more a quick Uber ride away.  We quite enjoyed renting the electric scooters that are readily available and visiting near by locations.  If you are arriving from the airport by train, the station is only ////// away or we took an Uber from the airport and it was about a 45 minute ride.  You are close enough to walk to the capital building or a short ride to the sport stadiums.  Honestly, this was the perfect location to explore the city or hop in the car and drive to the mountains, Red Rocks or even a day trip to Garden of the Gods.

The rooms:

Okay so let’s talk about the presidential suite. Like I said,  it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!  The suite is around 2,000 square feet and includes a king bedroom with an incredible lounge area.    We had a total of 6 girls so we also had the adjoining guest room with 2 queen beds that opened up! It was the perfect way for everyone to use the room. The residential suite had a full bathroom including a huge shower and a free standing tub. The suite also has a half bath. So it was perfect with the bathroom in the adjoining room as well,  we had more then enough space to get ready for 6 girls. The beds were so comfy and the sheets were so soft, I may have had one of the best nights of sleep ever.

The presidential suite also has a kitchenette and a huge bar as well as a large meeting table.  There was plenty of seating for everyone! The living area was really nice for us all to sit around and chat.  One of the highlights for us was the pool table!  We has so much fun challenging each other to a friendly game of 8 ball!   The suite is enormous and the view from the huge wall to wall windows is gorgeous.

We were lucky to have stayed in the Presidential Suite and adjoining  two queen room for the weekend- but we also spent an extra night in a king quest room.  The king and queen guest rooms are just as beautiful and comfortable!  The luxury bedding, the soaps and shampoos, the bath towels – all luxurious!

The amenities:

Let me tell you, the Sheraton is packed with amazing amenities!  My favorite thing about this hotel (other than the amazing suite) was the rooftop pool which is heated year round.  There are comfy cabanas that you can sit under ( highly recommend going early if it’s on the weekend) or there are plenty of lounge chairs that are available to use as well. Located on the fifth floor, the pool has beautiful views of the city. There is also a rooftop bar that is open on the weekends.  There is also a foosball table and a pool table available to use as well!

The pool was the perfect way to start of our girls weekend trip.   We all had to very early morning flights so we were exhausted and it was so relaxing to lounge around in a cabana and soak up the sun and city views.  When we arrived the pool we had a fantastic surprise.  The Sheraton was nice enough to reserve us a cabana to use and they also decorated it for us!  This is just one thing that made our stay extra special.  We spent the afternoon relaxing and cooling off in the pool and maybe even dozed off a few times!

There are so many great things about the Sheraton Denver Downtown.  Something that really makes this hotel special is the lobby and community areas.  The fireplace in the lobby, the hip interior design and the great seating areas just make it so inviting and you really just want to hang out!

There is a really cool community table that is a perfect workspace with built in lighting, outlets and charging stations.  One awesome feature is the Studios, which are flexible gathering spaces available to book whenever needed.  They are tech-enables glass enclosed spaces that you can use for group meetings or even private dining experiences

For those of you that like to keep fit while away from home, the Sheraton has a state of the art fitness center.  It is huge!

Free weights, strength equipment and cardio equipment will get you going!   And don’t forget all of the options in the surrounding areas for hiking, jogging and just good city walking.
